The St. Petersburg Artist Museum-and-Exhibition Center isšanšoriginal project concerned with the preservation and promotion ofšworks byšRussian realist painters from the second half ofšthe 20th century. The director ofšthe museum-and-exhibition center isšGalina Stepanova, anšentrepreneur and patron ofšthe arts. The project' s artistic director isšAnatoliy Perevyshko, ašpainter and member ofšthe Russian Artists' Union.

The project' s primary focus isšonšexhibitions, during the course ofšwhich ašpermanent exposition isšgathered, and lovers ofšrealist art are given anšopportunity tošreplenish their private collections. The center organizes personal exhibitions ofšartists who worked inšSaint Petersburg from the 1950' s tošthe 1990' s, demonstrating ašhigh level ofšprofessionalism inštheir art. These artists' works are housed inšthe collections ofšthe State Russian Museum, the Tretyakovskaya Gallery asšwell asšinšother large museums inšRussia and the former countries ofšthe USSR.

Ašsecond project begun byšthe center was the publication ofšThe St. Petersburg Artist magazine. This periodical acquaints its readers with the greatest achievements inšRussian realist painting from the mid-19th century tošthe present day. The magazine' s inaugural issue was recently released. Among its materials were articles devoted tošthe life and works ofšN. Bogdanov-Belsky, S.šPetrov, A.šPerevyshko, and O.šTenyaev. The issue sells for 300 roubles.

Beside exhibition and publishing activities, the center holds artistic gatherings and musical soirees within its comfortable premises.
